DRINK CANDLES

When you look at this page you can see why we chose the trademark HighlightsTM for our specialty candle line! Although not all of our candles are drink candles, the majority fit into that category. It all started with a Martini candle, complete with "olive" made as a gift for a family friend and has grown as customers have requested candles fashioned after their own favorite drinks. The latest addition is the peach martini candle which smells absolutely wonderful.

Since our drink candles have an ambiance missing in regular wax pillars and tapers, many of our customers have used them as elements in their home decor. An obvious use would be to place drink candles on a bar; however, one of our customers is using a row of wine candles to decorate her kitchen and another was thinking of accenting a framed picture with a martini candle.

THE MARGARITA CANDLE

Fashioned after my own favorite drink, this gel candle margarita is complete with salted rim and a handmade polymer clay "lime slice".  Not only does it look like a "real"margarita, the enticing lime scent adds a wonderful freshness to the entire room.

Once the candle has been burned down, the rest of the gel can be peeled out and the glass will come clean after a brief soak in hot water and dish washing detergent (I recommend Dawn because it has a great de-greasing action.)  Now you have a new addition to your barware!

THE MAI TAI CANDLE

As with many of the "drink candles" this one came about by special request.  One of my mother's friends asked her if I would make a candle that looked like her favorite cocktail so, of course, I had to give it a whirl!  The Mai-Tai comes all dressed up with handmade polymer clay "fruit" and a paper parasol.  Please remove all of these before lighting the candle.

THE PINA COLADA CANDLE

This was one of the hardest drink candles to make.  On the first go-round I used so much white dye that it clogged the wick.  I had to re-do all of these candles so that they would burn right.  After a while another problem surfaced (or, rather, SANK!) as the "cherries" began to wend their way to the bottoms of the candles. Oh well, back to the drawing board, as they say.  Finally, here are the new, improved Pina Colada candles.  It was worth all the work and they smell just heavenly!  These are a real bargain!
